f650 electrical issue

Any ideas on the most likely cause of losing my high beam headlight? Dipped is fine.

I assumed it was the bulb - but a new one made no difference. All other lights are fine. The blue light on the dash comes on as well.

Not much guidance on the Chain Gang. Where could te fault lie?

thanks

Take a look at the wiring diagram (http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/Photos/Elec.../wiring1-1.gif)

It looks like there is cable that is connecting the blue dash light to the head light. My guess is that this is the problem.

Took a look at it again and I don't think there is a cable as I described earlier.

Anyway if you follow the cable that ends up at the high beam you'll encounter the problem. Hopefully it's just a little bit of oxid that needs to be removed.

Richard,

I had same problem with my 2000 F650 Dakar just recently. I found my problem was one of the wires to the connector that clips to the bulb had broken right at the connector. So was not possible to reconnect. Well if I was desperate I guess I could have tried soldering it, but I doubt it would last. So I bought a new bosch connector and wired it up. Its much better quality than the original anyway.

Maybe its the same problem, maybe not...

thanks all. turns out the wire has broken at the point it connects to the plug for the bulb, looks like a tough one to fix, not least because it is so difficult to get my hands in there without stripping the housing off. Might take it to the deal and see if they will fix it under warranty.
