F800st???

just had a request from a friend interested in buying an advertised F800 ST.
(I belive it is ST)
parallel twin, belt drive with all the panniers/gizmos.
It sounds the right money and is at 2000 miles.

Question being, any problems to out look for? I'm mechanically minded, but have no experience of these new fangled beemers. The machine will be for tarmac only.

Make sure it's had all updates & recalls, the most recent of which (in the UK anyway) involves an updated front belt drive pulley - noise issues possibly? Make sure it's got Heated Grips, On Board Computer is a nice option also.

i've had an f800st for just over 6 months and put 10000 miles on it. most of that was motorway commuting. it eats up motorway miles. recently changed jobs and now my commuting is 30miles per day on A roads. it is immense fun on the A roads. the power is just right for a commute, torquey engine returns 60mpg (with summer hoonage). the riding position is quite upright. not too much weight on the wrists but you can get your feet up on the pegs, head down, arse off the side and knee down if you wish.

did a 800 mile trip over 4 days with the missus riding pillion. bike felt heavy and a bit tardy. had to work harder to keep it in the right gear and keep the revs up. i think a bit more power is needed if two up, but perhaps i'm just being fussy. it still overtakes on country lanes with ease two up.

i really like the bike and it's a great all rounder and tourer
