hawker batteries
has anybody got/used a hawker gel battery ?what "standard " are the cold cranking amps quoted too? is the american sae equialent to european en?
many thanks merlin |
We replaced my girlfriend's R80ST stock BMW battery with a Hawker battery whilst in Turkey last November because the original was old and struggling in the cold. The Hawker battery has been great so far and has superb cranking power, much better than the original. I haven't heard any bad reports about Hawker batteries so they seem to justify the extra expense.
Hope this helps. Harvey www.chasingthesun.org |
Hi, my old GS battery was 3 years old and OK I thought, it started the bike no probs but I'm off to Africa soon and decided it would be prudent to fit a new battery, after a lot of thought, along the lines of " How F@*%IN much" I bought a Hawker, bloody marvelous, spins that engine much faster, starting improved and I'm now confident it will perform well. As I have trade contacts I could have bought an ordinary lead/acid battery for £8.05, so £70.00 was a lot to pay out but worth it I think. Chris

I also have a Hawker battery in my G/S. Works great - spins up fast and doesn't fade as fast as the BMW battery I had in my R100, which was much larger! Recommended, especially after you try push starting on a gravel road.

Can also recommend the hawker dry cells, after replacing two stock batteries I got sick of them, hawker has been 100% better, noticeably turns the bike better.

Great battery. But slightly undersized, so make sure you have something to wedge between it and the battery straps!
