ohlins- pre-paralever gs
ohlins make a remote-reservoir "piggy-back" shock for the 81-87 pre-paralever gs. do you need to modify/cut out the rear mudguard to allow space for the remote-reservoir or does it fit "standard". anybody able to compare ohlins to WP ?

I have a piggy-back Ohlins on my '81 R80G/S. It fits without modifications to the mud guard, but the mud guard will rub on the reservoir and scuff the aluminum finish. You could probably eliminate that by wrapping the reservoir with tape, or trimming a little off the mud guard.
The Ohlins worked well for me, even fully loaded on bad roads in South America. It is more expensive than the alternatives though. Story |
In My opinion, the ohlins is a good deal in the UK where you can purchase one for about 340 pounds. Here in Canada, I was quoted the equivilant of 520 pounds. Another option is Works Performance which do not have the piggyback design.
