r 1200 gsa handle bars
Hi Guys,
I've just sent my bike overseas in a box in little piece's, It should be in Anchorage on Friday. I reckon I have the necessary tools to put her back together. The only think I'm not sure about it the torque bolts for tightening the handle bars. I've been told that an ordinary socket should fit these, is this true? And would anyone know what size socket it is? I spent hours yesterday trying to get a torque socket set but no one here sells them. Thanks for your time guys. |
It believe the handlebar securing bolts are the same for all R1200GS models but I could be mistaken. According to BMW parts catalogue there are two different lengths and sizes, although I don't remember this on mine...
ASA-Bolt M10X90 ASA-Bolt M8X30 If the bolt looks like a inverted torx, then you can use a 12 point (double hexagonal) socket. For my '07 model I think from memory I use either 8 or 9mm 12-point socket. It should be quite easy to find at a reasonably well equiped tool shop. |
Hey turbocharger,
Thanks a lot bud, that's put my mind at ease. Last thing I want to do is be stuck in the car park of anchorage airport trying to reassemble my bike without the right tools. Thanks again. |
