R100GSPD Storage Compartment Capacity?
Well I've sold my 2003 R1150GS Adventure and am taking my 1989 R100GS around the world next year. In preparation for that journey I've sourced a PD 35 Litre tank but haven't picked it up yet. While I was thinking about how and what to pack I remembered that the PD tank comes with a neat little storage compartment. For the life of me (and Google) I can't find out what the capacity of that compartment is. 1 L? 10 L? I haven't a clue. Could I put my Gore-Tex liners and cold weather gloves in there? Any help would be appreciated!

It is 5 liter, you can put a lot there!

All I can get in is the standard tool roll and a few other small items. You'll get your gloves in but not much else. I've got some pictures if you want off site.

Thanks for the info!
If you've got pictures available Timbo I would appreciate it. Maybe it is closer to 3 Litres in capacity if all you can get in there is the tool kit and some odds and ends. I'm thinking that the shape of the PD tank and the storage compartment would preclude the necessity and ability to mount a small tank bag. I like the idea of the lockable compartment for security as well. |
Hi Ekke
I've never bothered with a tank bag instead relying the tank storage for odds and ends. If I do mount anything on the tank it's a camelback water container. As I can't get my camera file size down so that I can post the pictures here I've sent them to your hotmail address. If anyone else wants them , let me know. |
Thanks Tim!
I'll check my Hotmail when I get home tonight... |
