R65 - great bike
My late wife's 1982 R65 has been sitting my garage for about eight years without turning over. My son bought a battery, changed the oils and filters. On the third attempt the bike fired up and ticked over quite nicely. Gotta love an R series BMW, simple and easy to maintain and ride. Probably the nicest bike I've ridden fully loaded up on all sorts of roads, tracks, sand dunes. Just needs a new brake master cylinder now and he can be off globe trotting again.

Totally agree! I dont have an R65 but I do have a number of airheads, R100gspd, R100/7 and a few others - great reliable machines. Perfect for a bit of World travelling. Just also noticed you at Bribie, I'm the other end of the Island at Caloundra - small world!

Yup, airheads are best. Had my R100GSPD 20 years, it is on its forth time round the clock (miles) and I love it.

I had an R80RT bike was ok, but not suitable for me. You are correct in my opinion thinking simple bikes are better, They seem to survive better than the complicated ones.
