unleaded with a cat?
I´ve got an F650 GS with catalytic converter. I´m headed for Brazil where I hear unleaded fuel is non-existant. I have heard different views on what will happen if I put leaded in the tank. I thought it broke the cat, and becuase of the sensor feeding info back to the electronic brain, the fuel consumption rises dramatically. I have also heard that people have had no serious problems except for slightly lower fuel efficiency caused by low octane levels.
Should I go to the effort of trying to get a new exhaust without CAT in Argentina, which I will have to dump again back in the UK, or just wing it and see what happens. Advice appreciated. ------------------ Richb http://www.postmaster.co.uk/~richardbeaumont/60684/ |
If you are staying just a few months, I would just leave the catalyser. Otherwise, I described on another thread how to remove it (see Removing the catalyser on F650 GS).

Have you checked the www.f650.com site???
Search the technical faq and the forum (f650.com) on the subject and you'll find plenty of information on the subject. |
