Asolo tents ?

Hi, has anyone any experience of this brand ?
I'm interested in a well made tent with a fairly large vestibule .
2-3 person - the Swift model looks ok .
I live way out in the boonies ,so I have to mail order stuff in ,hence I don't have much chance to go and check things out .

Any opinions [on the tent !] welcomed .

If it's the Asolo I'm thinking of they are an Italian climbing gear manufacturer most well known for their boots. Their stuff is generally pretty good. I've had some Asolo stuff in the past that has been excellent and one pair of boots that was totally sh*t! They fell to bits! Didn't know they'd started making tents.
Matt :)

Could have been your feet that were at fault !

Tough as my feet are, they are not so tough as to remove the sole unit from the outside of a pair of plastic alpine mountaineering boots! :)

Tents

Check out sierratradingpost.com, killerdeals.com, mgear.com, backcountrygear.com, linkupgear.com. They all have clearance deals on top quality tents. As for the Asolo, they are new to the tent thing, so you may be better off going with a proven brand, until they have more gear reports on them. Check out backpacker.com and climbing.com, they may have a write up about them.

Hey Dodger,
I have the smaller 2 person Asolo tent, cant remember the model name(hawk?).
got it at wholesale sports in SW calgary.About $200cdn, and I think they do mail order.
I have used Asolo gear for years, and it is usually good quality.
The tent is OK, I used it on a fairly wet weekend last fall (HUBB Rally in Nelson) and it was fine, but the fly just covers the tent and might be a bit of a problem with rain and driving winds.
It packs up small, and has a fairly low profile when set up, so you have to stoop pretty low when entering, ok sized foyer for gear and boots, and just the right amount of ventilation netting inside.
I think I would go for the 3 man model next time, with a bit more room and taller profile for old weary knees and back...
Are you Coming to the Nelson Rally?
Cheers

Thanks for the info guys , I spotted the Asolo in the wholesalesports catalogue which is what tempted me to ask .
Anyway just to be bloody awkward I bought a Sierra Designs Meteor from Coast Mountain Sports in Prince George .My son is out camping with it now [holiday long weekend in Canada ] If it comes back in one piece , I'll use it and write a review .It was the large [- ish] vestibule that appealed to me .

Thanks once again .
