goggles w/ full-face helmet?
Hello,
I'm about to head off across the sahara in a couple of weeks. Taking off from Tanzania and working my way around. Already have a helmet--a full face Shoei, RF-800?--but no goggles. Are they necessary? It looks like they won't even seal that well on the sides because of the helment style. Advice? Brian |
They wont seal well, but try these

off-road helmets are made to go with big goggles, and are also alot cooler than road full faced helmets. they usually also come with a large sun peak. both advantages in the sahara.
also you can get a cheap helmet and spend the savings on good goggles with UV protection, and even a spare pair? ------------------ dave |
I ride in the desert and actually don't like the off-road helmet / goggle combo. I prefer a full face helmet and my choice of sunglasses. The shade from an off-road helmet would be nice so I use the Nolan N70 for the best of both worlds.

The Arai Tour-X (Tour Cross / XD) works really well in this regard.
Nice big opening to allow goggles when the visor is flipped up. Pity its so expensive... I have one and love it! |
