measure the overall pole lengths assembled , buy another section(s) and cut all to equal lengths to give an extra section in each overall pole length. = shorter + able to pack away :smiliex:

It occurs to me that a pertinent question might be WHY do you have to pack the poles vertically in your pannier? Let us know this and maybe we'll be able to help you out with alternatives which won't limit your pole length!

Isn't 13.75 lbs. (6 kg) a bit heavy?

Do you find the convenience makes up for the extra weight?

15" pole sets for Big Agnes Parkview tents

My company, Full Throttle Camping, had Big Agnes specially manufacture 15" pole sets for their Parkview 2 and Parkview 3 tents. Specs are the same as the standard 20" poles - 7001 Aluminum, Yunan hubs, floating connectors - the 15" sets just have shorter pole segments to fit in all but the smallest saddlebags/panniers.

They aren't inexpensive. As an upgrade, the PV2-15 pole set is $75 and the PV3-15 pole set is $90.

For the complete package (tent, poles, stakes), the PV2-15 is $339.95 and the PV3-15 is $389.95.

By April, the 15" option should be available on the Full Throttle Camping website - www.fullthrottlecamping.com - but they can be purchased now if you don't want to risk missing out (supplies are limited; we expect to sell out before summer). If you want a set, get the ball rolling by emailing me at gregg@fullthrottlecamping.com.

Full Throttle Camping is the only source in the world for these short poles. If you can get beyond my web site's use of the term "biker" and a pic or two of my dinosaur, you'll find some great camping equipment by Big Agnes, Outdoor Research, Exped and Jet Boil.
