multifuel stove(MSR whisperlite)
Hello,
Just made a small investment on a MSR multifuel stove whisperlite international. tried it out yesterday with petrol and made some coffee in a bialette moka express. works without a hitch. I was always wanting a coleman fyrestrom ti. it is certainly more compactly packed and have got good reviews. The store i went to did not have much choice and I was tempted to buy :). The flame control is not smooth...its almost only on and off...:) ok..it costed 100 euros with a fuel can. Got a discount of 20 euros. Bought in SFU shop, hanover, Germany. Pare. |
I think you'll find the Whisperlite should only be on/off, it's the Dragonfly that is adjustable.

Almost on off, but if you have a gentle touch some adjustment is possible.

Hello Pete,
Actually i bought the stove with very little thought. I had spent years dreaming of buying one good multifuel stove and zeroed in one coleman fyrestrom. I could find only one korean gas fueles stove in India. So, when i went out, i just wanted to buy one and bought the whisperlite. not having control on flame strength can be a pain sometimes, but i think i will learn to do with it. should not be a problem after many lunches and dinner made on open fire ;) ... Cheers Pare Quote:

Hello Stewart,
Yeah, the adjustment is quiet slight. I realised as i was trying to get it as low as possible for making coffee...and could manage to get it as low as i wanted...i just raised the container a little higher and it was fine.. I think once i get to know it well enough, i will be able to use it in the best way possible for cooking anythg.. Pare. Quote:

hi guys...
i am not familyar with those gas stoves you are talking about, but meaby you can advise me on one i am going to use for my trip to marocco. i am going in a van and will bring big gas bottle, orange colour, hight about 70 cm and weight about 15 kg. i am not sure if it's filled with propane or butane, but it is regular, usual house gas bottle used in italy for sure and i belive in moust odher europian countrys. that same kinde of gas bottle is used in india too. is it possible to buy that same bottle in marocco also?? this one should last me aprox 3 months, but i intend to stay 6 months in marocco, so i would need to give this one whan empty and buy a filled one. i belive all this bottles are made same way, same ventil...? here (in serbia) i payed new bottle 70 euros, next time should pay less, just for the gas, empty one stays there... works the same in marocco??? any advice ?! ....thanks :-)) svetlana |
Hi Svetlana,
In Morocco eveyone uses camping gaz bottles, just buy a new regulator and gas locally when your bottle runs low - they are cheap. or buy a regulator/bottle on the way through France. The MSR stoves are good, we were camping at 4500 metres and our Dragonfly worked perfectly - a few more pumps required than normal with the thin air though!!! |
thanks Gipper,
my dilema is solved :-)) cheers, svetlana :D |
