OZTENT RV1 anyone used it?
I am in the process of buying a tent. It will be used in Morocco next year and various other camping tips to France from the UK.
This is the tent that intrests me, and I wondered if anyone has an opinion on it? Oztent RV-1 |
Are you going to be on four wheels or two? Because according to the spec the tent weighs 14kg which is about three times what I'd be looking for in a tent for bike camping. If you're in a car / 4x4 etc, the weight's not so much of a problem.

Sorry should have said......4 wheel drive. So weight not so much of an issue.

Rv1
Maximus, we have the RV3 and it is the best tent we have ever owned by a long stretch. Great design and very easy to put up. Bullet proof quality, dry and comfortable, also very well ventilated for hotter climes. As you can gather I am a fan.
Expensive but you get what you pay for. We had two for a family of 5 but sold 1 and the kids now have individual tents.... Has stood up to some horrible weather. Have now moved back from Oz to NZ and it was the first thing that was packed. Can't recomend highly enough....if you can afford it get the extended front porch. Cheers. |
I think you have convinced me ttrkiwi. I'd use it a lot, so would be a good investment.
Kind Regards Mac |
OZ tent
Hi Maximus,
Been on a lot of 4x4 trips and seen a lot of tents - ground tents, roof tents, the lot. Don't know anyone who was unhappy with their OZ tent. Dead easy to erect, loads of room, stable in high winds, etc. Go for it! Happy trails, Jojo |
Many thanks for your reply's I have decided on the RV3.
|
Maximus, I'll just reinforce what's already been said. As long as you have a storage space long enough for it, the OzTent is a brilliant shelter. We have one in our long-term review kit and no one has had the slightest problem with it.

OZ Tent
Hi All
I am also thinking of an Oz Tent and my concern is that they will not stand up to 3 season camping in Europe particularly because of heavy rain A few years ago I camped in Carzorla Nat Park in Spain for 6 days in continual heavy rain.My tent then(and now)was a South African Cristy's canvas which I admit is a hot weather tent.I got by by rigging a tarp over the top of it when it became saturated and started leaking(about day 3). Iam really tempted by the OZ but can't find anyone who has used one continually in rainy Europe. Any comments on this or,proven alternatives for 3 season touring in Europe greatly appreciated. |
