Question about liquid fuel stove
 

The wife and I have just bought a Primus Omnifuel stove and I have a question about the fuel bottle. Do you store it (if it has fuel in it) with the pump screwed in place or with the normal stopper? I'm just thinking that if you take t pump out you have to clean it but if you leave it in it can get damaged so I'm confused (and at my age its easy to get confused :() as to which one is the best.

We have one too..If by store it you mean when "sitting in the shed/closet ect for weeks at a time": We always store it with the normal cap on it.. leaving the the valve on IMHO is not worth the risk of it leaking or even the fuel fouling. When on the bike.. and only storing in for a few hours.. it kinda depends on how lazy i am feeling at the time.. but mostly it is with the normal valve on it.

Any feedback on these stoves. I want to get a fuel burning stove, but will use diesel and not petrol or gas.

Any experience using diesel in it...?

Diesel in Omni-fuel stove.
 

I've used an Omnifuel for 8 years, and found petrol to be best. Never bothered with gas.When using diesel, kerosine or domestic heating fuel you need to pre-heat the burner with methylated spirits.The diesel doesn'nt always light first time and can be sooty,but gives plenty of heat and is cheap.
You can use the petrol to pre-heat the burner ,so no carrying meths bottles , and it fires up first time. The fuel bottle also doubles as an extra litre for the bike. It has been a reliable and (fairly) easy to use bit of kit. Everything comes to pieces for cleaning using the special tool. When filling the bottle leave about 20% empty , to allow the pressure to build when pumping it up.If it's too full you get too much fuel going through which doesn't vaporise . Oh yeah, you also need to change the jet (supplied)in the burner when going from heavier fuel to petrol , a 2 minute job. I had an kerosine Optimus primus stove for 20 years ,before I got the Omnifuel and would certainly buy another.
So ... if your vehicle runs on diesel and you don't want the bother of seperate fuel , O.K. , otherwise use petrol and have an easy life.
