Recommendations for Armored Riding Shorts
1 Attachment(s)
I'm on a "Snipe Hunt" for the best (best - not necessarily most expensive) armored shorts - and I'm soliciting your opinion(s)
Background: Last year I had a low-speed off. Left hairpin turn on tarmac. Damp sand on the road that I just didn't see in time. Didn't make the turn (obviously). Came down on my left hip, about 3 feet from the bike. Broken left femur (Lesser Trochanter - see the attached pic) It's taken some time to get back on the bike, but I'm there. (65-year old bones don't knit as fast anymore) So.....I'm in the market for the best armored shorts I can find. I've already got (and wear) all of the rest of the stuff (kneepads/shoulder pads, etc.). In an "ideal" world, these would be something that I can wear over the top of my underwear....yet underneath riding pants/denim pants. Your ideas (and reasoning) PLEASE. |

Now THAT is a thought that never occurred to me Certainly a cheaper price ......Hmmm |
I'm in the 60s and I had hip and shoulder bilateral surgeries, and now I expect to have to undergo knee surgeries too before too long.
I have investigated and bought armour riding gears and for me there is no best ones. I would say look for something that you are looking foward to wear every day. The biggest chalenge is to find what who are most confortable with. For this reason I only buy from the distributors that have no restocking fees. Finally, after a surgery and as I age I need to do specific stretching exercises daly to maintain the range, the strenght and the movement of my articulations. Hope this helps |

Actually, it does help. Shoulders, Knees & Elbows are (currently) comfortably covered. It's my A:censored::censored: that I didn't expect to need to cover :rolleyes2: As mentioned above, I'm gonna look into the pads that the High School / College / NFL/CFL players wear. Dressin' for the Slide, not the Ride. |
