Size 14 (UK) Boots
Hi
I'm looking for a decent pair of boots that go up to a UK size 14. I've trawled through and cant find a recent thread. In terms of needs, I'm looking at London - Cape Town (via West Africa). I have limited experience of off road riding, so I'll not be seeking the dirt out all the time, more when it suits and when I have to. Previous boots have had the middle part of the sole chewed up by my pegs, though I can change the pegs if needs be. Preference wise, I am more concerned with protection than being fully waterproof. However, they need to be usable off the bike Cheers in advance on this Paul |
Some will recommend this and that adventure boot. Personally I don't think they are necessary for straighforward travel and are a bit OTT. Altberg make good mpotorcycle boots, do size 14 and have various wide sizes too and can be custom fitted. Look them up, very reasonable price too when you see what the adventure boots cost from some manufacturers.

Another plug for Altberg, I have used them all over the world and for everyday riding, quality boots.

Cheers. I looked at them, and think I'll definitely buy in the future. for now, with London - Cape Town in mind, I've gone and bought some SIDI Adventures in a EU size 50. I'll see how they go

What you won't see on the Altberg website is their Desert Hogg Boots, which are better for hot climates. No waterproof membrane, and with sections of Fabric paneling, and still with the same ankle protection and anti-crush soles (with walking boot tread) as their standard motorcycle boots.
They are not considered water proof, though they do provide their own brand Leder Bök water repellent spray to help if you are caught in showers or road spray. They are entirely useable off the bike, equally at home in a pub, office or walking across mountains or pavements. Though the anti-crush sole means they aren't as flexible as Altberg's walking boots. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...8d8b57eea6.jpg The picture doesn't do them justice. They are UK13 extra-narrow, but I did the laces up for the photo without my feet inside and it was that which makes them look weirdly long and narrow. When I'm wearing them, they look normally proportioned. |
