Sleep system help
Hey everyone.. Looking for some help. I'm planning a ride where I'll be living off my bike for several months. I'm looking for some advice for a sleep system. Problem I'm running into, is I'm a fairly big guy. 215lbs, 6'4, and will need a camping pad 30in wide. I have neck/shoulder issues, so a comfortable night's sleep is my biggest concern. I need something extremely comfortable.
Almost as important to comfort, is needing something extremely durable. If it fails me, even for 1 night, my neck will get screwed up, and prevent me from riding for days. Since it's so important to me, I'm getting my sleep system first, then will work around it's size, with a tent, and the rest of my gear. Nothing too huge though, as it's still gotta fit on a motorcycle! I Love hammocks, but simple fact, is I won't always be near trees. So...while camping isn't my expertise, I believe that leaves me with a camping pad/mattress. The ones I've heard get the best reviews, won't fit my size. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks |

Here's what we use - we have a quilt for 2 and use it with 2 - 25" pads - touring 2 up on a V-Strom 650 with Adv Spec Magadan soft side bags with a GIVI 55L top case - the Enlightened quilt packs small - is very comfortable, sleeps like your home bedding and leaves us plenty of room to pack all our other camping and travelling gear. Not cheap - but worth it for us to keep stuff from hanging off the bike and enclosed in our luggage - good luck! Michael |
Spot on post above, personally not a fan of full on camping, always a hostel / hotel or other form of accomodation around during our travels. You get what you pay for as usual and we use two custom order Enlightened Equipment Convert (Quilts), they just perform as advertised: https://enlightenedequipment.com/convert/
