Square 3 season sleeping bag?
Following on from buying a bag that may not be warm enough (see: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...bag-warm-24840 ), I am now looking for a 3 season sleeping bag. I would prefer to find a square one so that I can fully unzip it for different temperatures as well as for the leg room. However I cannot find a 3 season square bag. Are there any out there (preferably down rather than synthetic)? I am willing to pay more for the right bag if I have to, so any suggestions welcome, but £100 or less would be a bonus.
Lightweight and compact size obviously an advantage. Cheers, Chris |
Hi Chris
eBay again, methinks. Just did a quick search and there are lots. This looks the business, but you've only got an hour! Regards, Mick |
Try Kathmandu.
About 6 times a year they have a 1/2 price sale. Their gear is very good and on a half price sale it makes it even better value. |
A few suggestions
Kelty and Sierra Designs makes a few rectangular bags.

Thanks again. If anyone else is after one, this is what I have just ordered (care of eBay, for £25.00 inc P&P):
Click the link above or if that fails it is a 'Snugpak, The Navigator'. Details from the Snugpak Website copied below: Like its counterpart The Sleeping Bag, emphasis is firmly on value for money. Its square shape is ideal for caravan trailer tents and as the name implies an ideal item to have packed away in your cabin. colours: Royal Blue (Outdoor Range) weight: 1700glength: 220 cm chest: zip: Left or right versions Fill: Insufilmaterials: Supersoft Lightweight Ripstoppack size: 22 x 21 cmtemp: Comfort 12°c to -2°cLow -7°c |
I recieved the item above. Seems like excellent value for money, but if you are thinking of buying it (which I would still recommend) then please note that the 'compression sack' thing for it is too small really. It took a lot of struggling and time to get it in. Solved simply by ordering a larger 'Gelert' bag (c 21cm x 50cm) from eBay for just under £9.

A lot of sleeping bags seem to be like that. My high end Rab bag came with a stuff sack that I've never been been able to get the bag into. I suppose it might have been possible under laboratory conditions at the factory but I don't want to spend 20 mins every morning packing the sleeping bag

Just in case anyone decides to get one of the bags above, I have replaced it with a much more expensive Rab bag. Happier now and had some nice warm nights sleep in it.
