Squeaky motocross boots
Ok as the title says my HG motocross boots squeal like a piggy when walking in them. Any idea how to get rid of the squeak? Or is it just normal with motocross boots?
These are the boots: http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/3_141/products_id/4052 |
I had the same boots and the same problem. I found if you tightened the straps before sticking down the velcro they wheren't quite as bad. They were never perfect.

I use Altberg boots these days. They may not provide as much protection as motorcross boots but are much better for walking in.

I'd say it's normal for MX boots, both my pairs squeak (sic?) a bit. As they don't have any hinged areas, I'd go down the dubbing / silicone spray / furniture polish route - it's worth a bash if it's a real issue to you.
Either that or back off the straps and tension to fit to find out which one is causing the issue, you might only be talking about one tooth on the strap. RTS |
I use furniture polish on my road race boots and it works ok for a day or so, not a lot of help if your wearing them for days on a long trip thou.
If your in the market for a new pair I can recommend these http://www.dirtbikebitz.com/images/p...p-trials-b.jpg I can wear these all day, as comfortable as slipper with good protection and no squeak. Pete |
Thing is i wear Alpinestar Ridge boot everyday for work and they are great. The MX boots are for summer only really since they only fit over my leathers since i tend to wear textile trouser most of the time which are too bulky to fit under MX boots mind you i have fairly big calf's as well which isn't a big help.
So far i have used beeswax on the plastics and Dubbing on the leather but haven't been out on the bike recently to find out if it has worked as yet. |
Yup...
WAX BASED furniture polish is the best. Hides the sweaty pong too :thumbup1: |
Or a quick squirk of WD40

i own a pair of fox f3 and alpine tech 6.. both have a squeak when i walk or flex my ankle when im sitting between races... its worse after my boots get wet!
i would say that it is a normal thing with them being so hard! i would be careful what u spray on them as somethings can soften the boot too much and then compromise protection! |
my sidi crossfire motorcross boots squeak like mad. at first i tried to almost take the boot apart and apply wd40 and wax polish to the uppers but reading about the efforts of an italian guy somewhere who almost went mad ,now it amuses me no end the reaction of people to my progress in the sidis.character building at this stage i would say yes.in fact i have begun to listen to the soulful music those boots make .no imho that italian was`nt mad.

........seems most people here are too polite to offer the real reason ..........
It's simple. If your boots squeak - it's because, as my mum and dad used to say, you haven't paid for them. :eek3: Oh dear....... |
squeaky boots
I also have SIDI COSSFIRES , talk about squeaky! that is I srayed some chan lube on them! works for me!

Silicone grease or spray.

I've got the same HG boots and after a year they've de-squeaked a bit. They are now at the point where hotel staff have stopped laughing at me as I walk across reception. Quite comfortable though, eh?
