Stove Fuel
 

I carry two stoves on camping trips, one is a Primus Omnilite TI multifuel stove with a silent burner mostly used in the evenings with a heat exchanger pot or frying pan. This is very compact and light and has excellent simmer control.
The other is a Soto Amicus backpacking stove and a GSI Minimalist pot which fits the stove and 100g canister inside making for a compact and light package. This is used mostly for teas and coffees or noodles.

I use both stoves on gas mostly and refill the flat round gas canisters using the aerosol type canisters which works out at less than half the cost and can be easier to find. Another option I am about to try is the 400g propane tanks used for soldering and with the right adapter will happily run camping stoves at any temperature. While initially expensive these can be refilled with the right adapter from 13kg propane cylinders which I have two of. Has anyone run camping stoves on propane?

I was also looking for a reliable petrol stove seeing as I will always have fuel for it. Some of you here had Coleman petrol stoves and swear by them. I had a Coleman 442 in the past, this was occasionaly troublesome with the generator clogging up when using unleaded petrol. I had to strip that generator heat it to a very high temperature and quench it a few times, in the end I sold it. However I did like that it was self contained, A lot quieter than most multifuel stoves, and needed hardly any pre-heat, unlike my Primus Omnilite. Also had a wide burner which made it more suitable for frying. I was toying with the idea of trying out another one. Any ideas?
