Advice on Mexico border crossing
Hi, I`m going to be in Carlsbad/San Diego at the end of August. Can anyone give me some thoughts on the best/quietest place to cross into Mexico. I want to avoid the main city crossings. This will be my first time and I don`t speak Spanish (trying to learn!). Or if there`s someone planning the same route who wants some company on the road? Any thoughts welcome!
Thanks |
Tecate's the nicest, most casual I've seen so far....but there's no banjercito there (although the website claims one), so if you need one you'll have to find it elsewhere. Douglas was pretty easy too, but that's a bit far afield from San Diego. Mexicali is a bit trying (not to mention ungodly hot), but perfectly do-able, and my other crossings were in Texas.
Hope that's helpful. |
Depends on if you are doing Baja or Mainland. IMHO anyplace other than big cities is okay.

Online
Tecate is a quiet crossing. You can buy the tourist visa online so you won't have to scramble at the border. Saves time.
