As a newcomer to long distance traveling, I would like to have company for a SA adventure. At this early time I'm open to lots of suggestions. Possibly a two part trip; Mexico and CA and later SA.
Anyone interested?

myself and "gingersi" are planning to touch down in Venezuala in early Sept 06. Heading South through Brazil to Argentina then back up through Peru. !! More the merrier

I would be interested in going this fall, in fact I'm ready to go now! Left here the day after Christmas headed for TDF, got to McComb, MS and my riding buddy changed his mind and went home. Got my bike stored at a friends house in McComb in case of a quick turn around.

You may have already spent lots of planning time... I'm in the early stages, with lots of things to consider. I think a riding companion would be excellent. If you have an e-mail address we can discuss some things and see if there are possibilities. I will probably do only a 2-3 month trip this time and later do another outing to finish the adventure. I'm leaning toward (1) traveling from here to Peru or (2) shipping to SA for Quito to Buenos Aires trip. Let me know your thoughts. I would like the time frame of October thru December.

Just curious - what would make someone head out on an umpteen-thousand mile ride and pack it in after a couple days? Crash perhaps? No concept? No commitment in the first place - you were the one wanting to go, he just went along cause of you?

We stayed at a mutual friends house in McComb. A rider there got to telling horror stories about riding in Mexico, ( some people like to do that.)It seemed to have pushed my buddy over the edge, he didn't sleep at all that night. When I came out of my room, he met me with two pages of questions I couldn't answer. He wasn't going another mile towards Mexico. Believe it or not we're still friends, just didn't want him to go being that uneasy about it.
