Anyone near honduras???
Hi just checking to see if anyone is near or has travelled through Honduras.
I have been checking the news every day about the current 'coup' situation, but there has been nothing said about border crossings and if they are still letting tourists in. I know it is not the smartest thing to do but if you had to go can you still ride through? |
Thanks for the update
deanosky, Your report that the borders of Honduras are open to tourists is the kind of info people need to know. Thank you. If you like, there is a thread
under: Travellers' Advisories, Safety and Security on the Road Thread: US Embassy: June Travel Warning: Honduras Where you might, read some interesting articles and post the open border news and any other pertinent information for those riding Honduras. Thanks again. xfiltrate eat, Drink and Be Careful |
I'm heading that way soon, and have been paying attention to what is going on. A few points from travelsecurity.com as of July 16: The border is open. The interim government has announced a curfew from midnight to 5 AM. There are strikes occurring in Tegucigalpa. Some protests around government buildings. There is talk that workers groups may try to block border crossings.
But generally, the overall security situation is rated as being relatively calm. |
anyone near honduras
howzitgoineh,
thanks for the info. Great to hear I am planning to head off from the U.S around the end of august. Such a relief I was planning to keep clear of Tegucigalpa anyways. |
Went through honduras last week, had no problems apart from alot of routine police blocks along the highways. The borders are open, and there didnt seem any signs of unrest but i only ventured through the southern areas
