Very safe place, 5 or 6 road blocks on all the way down from US, no problem, no corruption, extremely friendly people, sometimes a little bit touristic, never a problem to camp in the wild
No need for Temporary Import Permit as long as you stay in Baja California. If you go to the mainland the permit is issued without hassle at the ferry port in Pichilingue near La Paz. For motorhomes one gets a TIP valid for 10 years!
Ferries are busy at this time of the year, so book a few days in advance.
