Bike transport Columbia to Panama
There are lots of blogs and posts about how to get from Panama to Columbia, but I am travelling the other way - North.
Having read most of the advice and looked at most of the options I think I may select air freight for my KTM 1190 Adventure and myself. Does anuyone have any experience doing this or advice on how to go about it. And specifically the names and addresses of agents and contacts in Columbia who may assist me. |
Cannot help you with airfreight, but I think it is going to cost you much more compared to Ferry Xpress?

G'day Bill?
Anyway back in 2010 I used Girag Air Freight to fly my bike from Bogota to Panama. Not cheap but not that expensive when you work out the boat prices, and if you don't like sailing much better!! My experience with them was pretty good, but there is a lot of messing around with customs clearance and exit paperwork, and unless you keep asking you can sit there like a lemon all day in the wrong place. I have read that other peoples experiences have not been so good. I guess it depends on how laid back and patient you are The contact I had was : olga.mendoza@girag.com Ph 428 0344 ext 109 Keep in mind that was four years ago so it might not be current. My best tip is learn Spanish, now!! If you can speak it life will be so much easier. Chris. |
Billkidd, are you aware there is a ferry running between cartagena and panama these days? It is a lot cheaper than sailing with the Stallratte or another yacht, around 200 dollars if I remember correct. Airfraighting is a big hassle compared to riding the bike on a ferry.....
