Contact in Bacalar or Chetumal Mexico
Hello people,
I'm with my Brazilian Motorcycle in Mexico but they didn't grant me a permit on the grounds that my papers have apparently expired (even though I've never had this problem in any other country in south or Central America). My question is if anyone has a contact in Bacalar or Chetumal who might be willing to store my bike (preferably dry) and luggage for about three weeks. I need to get my papers sorted during that time but don't want to stay in the same place while my limited time in Mexico is ticking away. Please let me know! - Lennert |
Sorry to read about your problem . I cannot supply a direct connection to some storage person , but I have a two ideas which might be of use .
Having stayed overnight in Bacalar a number of times I do know that there are small hotels some of which have ample secure parking . If you overnight in Bacalar select a place with such space and ask the owner if you could arrange some sort of paid parking for your bike and goods for the time required . The other idea involves finding a service for " mini bodegas" , i.e. small storage rooms . These appear to be readily found around Cancun but may also be available in Chetumal . The below link is for such a storage service in Cancun. https://casas.mitula.mx/casas/renta-...l-quintana-roo At the bottom of the list they describe such small storage units renting for a negotiable price per square meter of floor space , like 360 pesos . For a bike you need how much space ? 6 square meters ? How about asking around at a bike shop in Chetumal to get some leads ? There are some Mennonite farm colonies in the area and the farmers usually have some tool shed for their tractors and other equipment , even if it is only a workplace shelter from sun and rain . Many of those Mennos , if not most , can speak English . Maybe strike up a conversation with a Menno farmer you see in the neighborhood of Chetumal or Bacalar, their bib-coveralls and straw hats are easy identifiers , maybe you can strike a deal . |
