exiting panama while bike is still in the country
Does anyone know if I would have a problem crossing into Costa Rica with my bike still in Panama? If I can't sell it I might leave it with a friend then fly home from CostarRica. Will I be questioned about the bike at the border?
Thanks, Joel |
Hi Joel,
I am in Panama as well with the idea of selling my bike. You can't leave the country without your bike, unless you go through some paperwork. VehĂculos de Turistas (This site is in Spanish, but maybe your friend can help you translate) Another site with information on how to sell and import a vehicle is: wikioverland.org/panama Good luck! cheers
Thanks for the info. Seems like a good site

you will have a stamp for the bike in your passport, the fine for leaving without the bike is $500, if they miss it on the way out they will probably get you on the way back so will still be fined for an uncancelled stamp.
There are a couple of car parks, one like a warehouse in Pasa Canoas, you could exit Panama with the bike then leave it in no mans land if you can negociate a deal with the car park for long term storage. Probably cost you more than the bonded warehouse in David though |
selling in panama
So if I sell the bike to a friend and we transfer ownership I need to get this stamp somehow?
