Frontera Ceibo closed!?
 

Hey everyone - quick question.

I'm in Cartagena about to board the last ferry express and am planning my trip thgouh Central America. My plan was to finish up in Guatemala at Tikal, then cross into Mexico at Frontera Ceibo. However, when I zoom in on the border crossing on Google Maps it says it is PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Is this true? Is Frontera Ceibo closed? Or is Google Maps just misinformed? Anyone pass through recently? Any info much appreciated!

They built a brand new very modern and expensive looking migracion and aduana building on the Mexican side in about 2010 or 11, I doubt they would just abandon it, but maybe someone has more recent info. I crossed there in December 2012.

It's open , a friend of mine just crossed 3 days ago .

I put in a request to the good people at Google Maps and the "Closed" comment has been changed to "Open".
