Guatemala City Bypass
Hi All,
I'm on the road headed to South America. If anyone want to follow my travel bud and I are running a blog Patagonia-Bound and on advrider Patagonia-Bound - ADVrider I also have a question. We would like to motor around Guatemala City. The maps show a southern and northern route around it. Any recommendations north or south or should we just suck it in and go thru it? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
disregard this request. I got the answer from over on Advrider's Latin American forum.

Uh.....would you care to share that answer here? Others might benefit.

Sure. Actually its very simple. West of Guate city there is an almost brand new road, Route 14, that runs between CA1 and connects to CA2 at a city called Esquintla. Best of all Route 14 takes you right by Antigua, my new favorite Central American city. South of Antigua the twistees on the fresh asphalt are framed by beautiful scenery, including several supersized volcanoes.
