Honduras to Nicaragua Border Crossing - El Paraiso - Los Manos
Crossed the Border today from Honduras to Nicaragua.
Stayed the night in Danli (Casa Encatado - has WiFi and very cool and hot showers - sorry for offtopic) Honduras site - El Paraiso: Quick and Easy - did go to Immigration (office is labled and easy to find) - got a stamp in the passport - go to Vehicle Export (did cost 60 lempras) - the lady did something with the passport - finish was quick and easy - no copies at all !!! - total time: 15 mins total costs: 60 lempras Nicaragua site - Las Manos: after crossing the first rope - immigration office on the Nicaraguan site (all offices are on the right if you come from Honduras) - got a entry stamp in the passport go to Vehicle imigration - got a form filled out . need to find the inspector (was wandering around with a t-shirt with intalian flag - didn't look offical but the friendly truck drivers assured that he is the right guy) he signed the papers while looking on the bike from some distance (it rained) - back to office - the lady said if i would miss the document on exit it would cost 10 US-Dollars (very important document) - said Ok - and Bon Dia and was rewarded with a smile (she looked very harsh at the beginning). no copies at all! total time: 35 mins total costs: 300 cordobas Did miss the insurance ? don't know if it is needed - but will go to costa rica anyway tomorrow. And did send away the lonely helper on both sites (No quiero guia) All in all - nice and easy. |
You did miss the insurance, and if you get stoped by road police they will ask for it. it was a $13 transaction. Wich border did you cross? Did you go Guatemala-Salvador-Hoduras- Nicaragua? some friends are just about to do that and are pondering about going to El Salvador or not. They were advised against El Salvador due to some bad experiences at EL POY.

Thx for the Feedback - I did update the Post - it was Los Manos anyway (not Mango) on the Nicaraguan side. Hope to make it to the Border without troubles ;)
Cheers, Lucky Is it possible to change the Threat Title? How do I do that? Should say Los Manos not Mango ... Thx, Lucky |
It seems corrected now. Whatever you did, fixed it :D

Up TO Date?
Has anyone done this recently?

Hey, if you come into Nicaragua you should have a valid insurance. If you don't have you can buy one at the borders. There are different companies which offer insurances.
Seguros America Mapfre Iniser ... just to name some. The price is 12 US $ for 1 month. Check out that they write your name, plate number, VIN correctly, just in the case you have an accident. If someone comes to León - you are welcome to visit us bier We are here: Where we are - Bike-Nicaragua, geführte Motorradtouren, guided Motorbike-tours Good journey Josecito |

Crossing Tomorrow
We are crossing tomorrow.
#1 bike: 2000 Suzuki DRZ400S from Canada - British Columbia plate #2 bike: 2013 Yamaha YBR125G from Mexico - District Federal plate Wonder how it will go...I'll update the thread eventually. |
Will be crossing into and out of Honduras into Nica from El Salvador tomorrow, or at least that's my plan. With the rain as it's been I may hole up along the way. The times you are giving for crossing are quick, hope I have the same.

You might also have to get fumigated. They fumigated me coming in from Costa Rica. Try the Mondongo soup in Leon (not Moronga! But if you're feeling adventurous I personally think it's quite tasty for congealed blood mixed with rice)
|
Thanks for the details :confused1:on Mondongo soup. I will make a note of it
and surely add it to the list of foods I will never ask for:innocent::Beach: |
