Liability insurance will be obligatory for all motorcycles operating on Federal roadways in Mexico as of November 17, 2013.
With the increase in liability limits, you should have at the very least a good liability insurance policy valid for Mexico no matter if you dont ride federal roads!

No.
I buy it and use it like a regular consumer.
What a lot of riders coming here to Mexico dont realize is the massive change made to the pay outs awarded to accident victims families. It went from about $15,000 US to about $90,000 US last year.
The new federal government made the insurance obligatory as the logical continuation of the liability changes.
