Mexican Liability insurance for Side-car URAL with French registration plate
 

Hi everyone,

We are struggling to get a Mexican liability insurance for our 2 URAL sidecars. We are riding around the world with our 2 URAL french plate registration.
Most Mexican liability insurances are for Canadian/USA Motorcycles plate registration. And the one insurance MexPro we found for European Motorcycles do not have it for URAL.
Any recommendation welcome.

From which direction are you entering Mexico ,from the USA or
from the south ?

I cannot understand why you should be having much difficulty getting your French plated vehicles liability insurance for Mexico .
I suspect it may be because Mex-pro is USA based re-seller of Mexican insurance and the staff may be unfamiliar with other than US-Canada registered vehicles .

ALL sellers of liability insurance within the USA for Mexico bound vehicles will be selling the same insurance because they are all supplied by Mexican based insurers .

Your simplest option is to finish your USA travels and drive right into Mexico at any of the official border crossings and at the border terminal you will find Mexican insurance sellers who will be able to provide you with the liability insurance . At places like Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo , , Tecate they will have such insurance agents running small offices right in the border customs buildings , and if not there they will be able to direct you to their off site sales points .
This same method will work at the south border if you are moving towards the USA .
There are sidecars users regularly visiting Mexico with Ural among them .

We went through customs in Sonoyta, Sonora, to the north.

The insurer found on site does not insure the motorcycles.

Online on the internet, the problem is that the Ural brand is not in their file.

In Mexicali, through a contact, an insurer was able to make insurance in tampering with his program because the Ural brand in his file only existed solo and not with a sidecar. He added the option of a trailer instead of the barrel.

Customs insurance is made for Americans and Mexicans in order to to obtain a supplement.
