Have a look at some of the packing lists in the Planning section on the left menu, you'll find some good ideas.
Also of course you could order our The Achievable Dream DVD - How to ride the world for some ideas, especially on what you're getting into. :) Basics: first off, don't panic if you forget something - everything's available everywhere, more or less. May not always be the exact thing, but it's all fine. Minimal clothing - 3 shirts, 2 pair pants and a few underwear, 3-4 socks, and that about covers the main stuff. You'll wear your riding gear most of the time anyway. A light fleece jacket, an electric vest, and GOOD riding gear and you're good. Susan loves her silk longies and undershirt for when it's cold. For CA and SA you want good ventilation - the airflow type nylon riding suits are great. Make sure you have waterproof gear/outer suit whatever. A light pair of gloves and a pair of liners, and a rain mitt. All three = warm when it's cold. Think layers - ALL your clothing must be wearable when it's cold, in other words: silk undies, shirt, electric vest, fleece, riding suit, rain suit if separate, all at once = warm in the worst conditions. And at altitude you'll be amazed how cold it can get. have fun! |
