Routes through Guatemala
 

We are headed from San Ignacio, Belize to Tikal ruins in Guatemala, and from there towards Antigua, Copán, and then Honduras. Any info on roads, roadblocks ( Thanks MikeMike for your timely updates, saved us several times) things to miss and things not to miss would be greatly appreciated.

If heading to Antigua consider taking the route down through Sayaxche to COBAN(with a B in Guatemala ) then RN7W from San Cristobal Verapaz west to Huehuetenango. That gets you into the western highlands without getting close to Guatemala City first and gives the full effect of the high country to enjoy, Todos Santos Cuchumatan , Lake Atitlan, Chichicastenango etc etc .
