Salkar Motos Nicaragua - A place to stop by!
Dear Motorcycle Rider,
If you are coming through Nicaragua and you are feeling home sick or need a place to re-charge then you are welcome to stay at my house. I have traveled by motorcycle in more than 40 countries and I know what it feels like to be on the road away from home. Over the years I received a lot of support from fellow riders and the least i can do is to support those that are traveling through my country. We have a room with private entry, private bathroom and air conditioning. The house as you can see from the pics below is pretty big. We have two friendly dogs, wifi and couple of workers that help maintain the house. For the most time of the year I'm traveling but my mother is a great host. Since I started this thread and listed the house on the tent list on Advrider we have hosted several dozen riders. My contact info: VoIP: +1-714-905-6356 Email: salcar at hotmail dot com Please let me know if you are thinking on stopping by to send you directions and GPS waypoint and detail directions. Please give me a bit of background on yourself and about your trip. It will be appreciated if you post a pic of this thread to :) Best, SalCar http://salcar.smugmug.com/Other/Casa...MG_8647a-M.jpg http://salcar.smugmug.com/photos/207749360-M.jpg http://salcar.smugmug.com/Other/Casa...MG_8612a-M.jpg http://salcar.smugmug.com/Other/Casa...MG_8630a-M.jpg |

Where is the parrilla for the asado?????(hahahaha) i would love to go and stay a few weeks looks nice and relaxing. Ansious to see more pics! Saludos desde BA KH |
I was the first!!!
Salcars place is awesome. Amazing yard. You can pick mangos in the morning for breakfast.
It is just outside of the City center so it is really peaceful and quite. There is also plenty of space for bikes. I know Salcar will have some tools handy as well. Bring biker stickers! |

Nice dude!
When you end up at Salcars, you've got to have him hook you up with tastes of some of the fresh produce in the area. Try some local juices and the gorgeous Nicaraguan females.

Hiya Salcar
That stupid carburetor never showed up in Belem... I ending up shipping the Bike to BA and stayed at Fabrizio's house for over a week waiting for everything to come together. Javier at Dakar Motos put a borrowed carb in so I could get over to Uruguay to fix my 8 month bike visa so I am sure it is the carb. The new carb finally made it to BA about a month ago and now I am hoping that it is actually in my bike and running well. I have to call today! anyway life is good here in Azerbaijan.. I met a fellow who is lending me a Paris Dakar to ride around. He was basically given it so he says I can ride it when ever I want. It has less than 7000 K on it!
Hope all is well for you. Did you ever contact my friends Maria and Will Burke? They are in Managua. Funny enough, when I was house sitting at Fabrizios, they were vacationing at the little corn island resort, casa iguana, that Will and Maria are part owners of! Small world. Saludos Susan |

place to stay
Salvador
thanks very much for letting me stay round yours. Great place to stay especially if your bike is falling apart and you are saturated with a lot of rain! thanks again! Simon Get The Dirt / Simon Mendus-Edwards (Mendus) |
Hey guys, I am currently staying with Salvador and it is a good place to stay. He is a good host and will show you some of the things Nicaragua has to offer.
My air filter on my BMW F650 crapped out at the Honduran border and I had to run the bike without one to Managua. There are no bmw dealers in Nicaragua, but Salvador has a Dakar F650 and kindly agreed to sell me his spare air filter. If you have a problem with your bike in Nicaragua I would recommend seeing if you can make it to Tegucigalpa, Honduras or San Juan, Costa Rica because here in Managua it is really hard to find common things. |

I've been trying to help him as much as possible feeding him, giving him tips, giving him free parts (oil filter, screws, wd40 etc) and now helping him build a website so he can raise some cash to finish his trip. i give him props for been the youngest rider (23 y/o) that I know that is out there roughing it. if you have a place for him to crash please let him know.:thumbup1: Managua it is hard place to get exactly what you want especially if you don't speak Spanish. Gatogato has been having a hard time to find Castrol Synthetic oil 10W-50 but we have been able to find it with an Esso brand or a little different numeration Castrol 5W-50... but gatogato wants to keep searching for it:mchappy: i think gatogato will see that the difficulties of finding parts in Nicaragua are a common them in Latin America |

Simon got his site up and running. If you want to have a good read check him out at Global Enduro. He just met up with Irishkev in Colombia and as I write this they should be traveling together. It's amazing to see the power of the internet. I introduced them by email and were able to meet up. To bad Simon could only stay one night at my house because he had to catch up the boat to Cartagena. He is a good laugh and great stories of camping at gas stations, getting rob in panama and much more... |

Kev got here at a good time for me. I had free time and there where some fun activities to do - we had a blast while he was here. If you want to check out a trip where the rider is going out of the road to take scuba diving classes, explore some caves and cool adventures check out his site at Celtic Adventurer - Riding the World |
