Santa Teresa, TX, Border Crossing
I'm thinking the Santa Teresa crossing into MX, about 15miles n/w of El Paso as opposed to BoTA. Statistics suggest it's a quick border, with an aduana immediately over the border.
Any opinions gratefully received. Thanks |

Border Wait Times I haven't used the Santa Teresa crossing, I usually use the Columbus NM/Palomas Chihuahua crossing about 40 miles west of Santa Teresa. I often stay at the campground in the state park in Columbus, then cross in the morning. Columbus is a very small town, I've never had to wait, but I'm sure Santa Teresa is fine, too. |
Santa Teresa border
Hi mate
I found it super quiet and relaxed as there was no truck or pedestrian traffic, just cars really and not many at 10am - most of the heavy congestion is at the main Cuidad Juarez border , watch for the turn offs after the Santa Teresa border or else you'll end up in downtown congested Juarez There's are little write up at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...colombia-71892 Not sure how the recent Mexican vehicle deposit costs are though, maybe add to the thread your experiences Good luck |
I'm planning on using this border crossing in a week, I'll let you know how it goes if you haven't used it already

Pocket ... east coast MX to Costa Rica, departing Utah 3 days from now. Perhaps our paths will cross? |
Tumbling down from colorado in 3-4 days, planning copper canyo, then west coast, I'm always down for beers. Look me up on crossing day.

The TVIP Security Deposit is variable with the age of the vehicle
It is at maximum $400US for the latest model years of cars and bikes with $300US and $200 US for the next older categories. Either way it makes little real difference as it will be refunded promptly at the time you cancel the TVIP before it expires. You lose your deposit if you fail to cancel on time. Pay by credit card is standard but you can also pay in cash US dollars When paying by CC mention to the BANJERCITO operator to not fumble and make repeated swipes with the card. Such messing about will probably cause the cc company computer to quickly block your access on the assumption that a criminal unauthorized withdrawal is being tried. For the same reason you should be deliberate and correct when typing in your PIN, ONCE or it also will block the transaction. For the case that you are blocked you ought to carry at least a second cc from a different company to save a lot of headache. |
