Buying a laptop in New York City?
Can anyone advice any of any US based websites and/or shops in New York with a website where I could purchase a new laptop. Looking at either a Tosh or a Thinkpad, and have friends visiting New York soon to pick it up for me and bring back to the UK . . . .
many thanks Huey |
Have you ever tryed Apple's laptops?
I recommend hugely to visit NY's Apple Store at Manhattan’s SoHo district: 103 Prince Street New York, NY 10012 (212) 226-3126 http://a688.g.akamai.net/7/688/51/51...-map031003.gif The shop it's own is a piece of artwork - good sightseeing! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif But if you have no time and prefer shoping in internet, it's unbleievably easy thing to do: http://www.apple.com/store/ Regards, Margus [This message has been edited by Margus (edited 14 January 2004).] [This message has been edited by Margus (edited 14 January 2004).] |

thanks guys, I'm seriously considering getting a G4 - BUT, have never used a mac before - is it difficult to learn/adjust to new system - plus, I'm not sure Garmn GPS operates on macs??

I'm a 6 year ex-Windows pc user, specialist and technician. Learning: it's 2X-4X easyer to learn MacOS than Windows. MacOSX is fully intuitive OS. You'll got the whole operation system under control in few hours of testing-trying it - adjusting it is a piece of cake even for newbies my practice shows!
Garmin - sad that i don't have any GPSes thus no experience with them on the comuputers. But sure check out if there's USB or Firewire cable available for your GPS unit. Software (even some freeware for Garmin GPSes) for MacOSX you'll find: www.macupdate.com www.versiontracker.com Just type "Garmin" or model etc and into searchengine, and you got the results and can download. Good luck discovering the new world, Margus |
thanks for you help Margus. I'll let you know how I get on!

For in the city, check out J&R at City Hall.
http://www.jandr.com/ They have a large selection of laptops. And you can negotiate a little bit on the price. Also available in the city is: http://www.compusa.com/ http://www.bestbuy.com/ http://www.staples.com/ http://www.officedepot.com/ http://www.officemax.com/ For buying on the internet, if you know the model you want, search for the best price with: http://www.pricegrabber.com/ http://www.nextag.com/ --Terry |
