Aerostitch Jackets and trousers
Hi All
Does anyone know if there is a stockist in London, or the South East, where i could go and have a look at some stuff. Many thanks |
Hi
There isn't one I'm afraid. I persuaded a friend to bring me a Darien jacket back after a holiday in the US. Items shipped from US to UK sometimes attract attention from customs and import duties. Hasn't Chris Scott got a jacket for sale somewhere on this site? Cheers ------------------ Sean |
Thanks for the info Sean, unfortunately the jacket Chris has for sale is XL and i am only a medium to large kind of guy.
I think i will probably go for the Turag(?) Hein Gerrick kit. If anyone has any comments on this choice for a trip to India/Nepal starting at the begining of September through eastern europe, turkey, iran etc, I would be very interested to hear them. Thanks PS or anything else of use to a first timer. |
Click on Rukka above. They have good motorcycle clothing with removeable Gore-Tex liners. A must for hot weather.
Or the BMW suits. |
Hi
We're leaving around the same time, similar route, probably see you on the road! I'm looking for some trousers to go with my Darien at the moment. So far I'm considering Tuareg and BMW Airflow/Savannah. The Rukka trousers looked great but were astonishingly expensive. Also, just tried to get hold of some of the Altberg boots, but there's a 12 week lead time :-( Cheers ------------------ Sean |
Hi,
I have the Darien Light medium jacket and trousers in sand that I no longer need. If you are interested email me. They're in storage in Surrey. ------------------ |
Sean:
I own the BMW Airflow II jacket and trousers. The jacket is great (very cool, super airflow through it), the pants don't let as much air through as the jacket. Certainly, they are better than other protective pants so far as cooling goes, but BMW put protection first and cooling second when they made them. They are very light and very comfortable pants, though. I recommend them to you. For a few extra dollars (pounds?) you can get some protective pads that fit into special pockets around the hips. I got these and like having the extra protection, these pads don't take away from the comfort of the pants in any way. |

Re: Alt-Berg boots... 12 weeks may seem like a long time - but they're worth it! Just got mine back from being repaired and it's great to have them on my feet again. I've since walked miles in them with some major blisters on my feet (caused by crappy running shoes) and didn't feel any pain - what a great pair of boots! ------------------ Fuzzy Duck (I'm quackers about bikes) |
Thanks guys!
Picking up some Airflow pants this weekend. I thought they look OK off the bike too. They aren't waterproof of course so I will just use a pair of overtrousers when it rains and a pair of long johns when its cold. Problem with the Altberg waiting list is that I'm heading off to Aus on Sept 9th, so I just can't wait! Will probably get some ex-army para type boots instead, my Sidi Couriers are great but more suited to english winters than Indian autumn. |
