Affordable ALU panniers
For my next trip, I bought some ARO aluminum panniers for the BMW. The have more volume, are stonger (2 mm thick aluminum !) and easier to load.then the original BMW panniers. Beside that, they look good and with a price of € 595,- including the mountingsystem and pannierrack, they are cheaper then the Touratech panniers.
They are made in the Netherlands by a company called ARO (http://www.arokoffers.nl/en/home) and I bought them via a local bikeshop, Motorservice Ossendrecht (http://www.motor-service.nl/). The only problem is that my big BMW touring topbox does not fit anymore so we phoned, to the company that made the panniers, for a solution and they are working on it. (to be continued) |
Nice panniers....
atlaspanniers This guys made better quality in the pannier joints(no rivets) and is in the same price! And they make fitting for the GIVI racks so you dont need extra bases... |
I am very happy with my ARO panniers! Great price, excellent service!
Mine are a bit smaller, but so is my bike...http://www.arokoffers.nl/images/stor...dolomieten.jpg |
The locks looks like they coud be defeated easily on the ARO, just by bending the hook the wire catches on to. How are they in reality?

We just came back from 50.000 km on the America-continent. The Aro - paniers are good price/quality. But we do had to make some repairs during our (quitte heavy) trip.
So far i think the chanced the rack of the GS already, wich was really neccecary. (we've changed it in Colombia) For the gs 650 the way the panniers are attached is not so good, but still oké. We had to weld the panniers more than once. But still! price/quality/service oké. ils |
At the last HUBB Meeting i saw a great idea of making panniers:
