best remoulded seats?
Hi there, I've just bought a DRZ 400s for a round the world trip and would like to get a much comfier seat. I'm in the UK, where should I go to to get a nice comfy remoulded seat? I've seen some positive comments about Bill Mayer saddles but all thoughts/advice would be great. Thanks

These folks make nice custom seats for DRZ:
Renazco Dual Sport Seats International shipping available. If I had money that's where I would order. Alas, on my meager budget I must ziptie a sheepskin over my stock seat and beat it into shape the old fashioned way pounding over many thousands of miles and thinking positive thoughts. A custom seat is a much better idea. I envy you. Best, John Downs |
Thanks John great recommendation - I'm actually planning on going down the slightly nancy route of getting a remoulded seat and then also lashing a sheepskin on top of it...having injured my coccyx at a charity fancy dress roller disco a few years ago (yes really!), I'm not taking any chances!

get your seat re-upholstered, cheaper than an aftermarket one. do it yourself not difficult especially on a plank seat, just need the raw materials and a staple gun

What kind of bike?
I redid my Wr250X's seat with a Seat Concepts foam and cover kit, then add an Alaska Leather sheepskin butt pad over it for long rides. |
If you want the best, go to Rayz in Holland (Rayz zadels - Motorzadels:) or Rayz Seats | Facebook
I have ridden on Renazcos and I have ridden on Rayz, and Rayz wins for comfort and shape. They arent cheap, but there the best dual sport seats on the planet. And your original question did ask for the best. |

Vicking Motorcycle Seats in Ash Kent can add gel inserts / memory foam onto your original seat. Could also re-profile the shape if required.

+2 for Renazco
Have two for my KTM ADV 950 (Suede & Vinyl) And one for: Husky TE630 Husabegh FE570 KTM EXC 530 DRZ 400 James prefers you tell him the kind of riding you do and a photo of you sitting on your existing bike as long as you're not changing footpeg position, handlebar position, etc. On the big KTM I have the "Rally" seat which is 2.5" taller than normal (37" inseam) and makes moving to a standing position much easier. It's still narrow to the front for moving about but tapes to wider than stock as you move back for "touring" comfort. The downside of Renazco's saddles - the long waiting list. But they're worth it - look at the re-sale value on ADVRider or eBay. He's also a pretty fair motorcyclist ! |
+1 for Rayz.
Before I had Problems riding many hours. Now I have a seat from Ray and no problems riding 3500km in 5 days (back from Morocco). Regards Martin |
