Best tires for Maroco on 1150gs

Hello, what will be your choice of tires for a trip to maroco on a 1150gs, we will probably do 1/3 road 2/3 offroad. Do you know of any product to prevent flats for tubless tires?

If there is a Micheling Desert that fits your bike go for it if you don't want to worry to much about flat tires and decent grip on almost all terrain.
Do a search on tires and / or Marocco and quite some info will show up.

Hi

The mitchelins deserts are great off road but terrible on road. They are good for avoiding punctures though.

I think the best comprise that I've used are TKC80, they good on road and not too bad off road and you get good mileage from them. I did not have any problems with them in Maroc.

But tyres are very much a personal preference, The last time I went to Maroc, I used Metzler Saharas and found them not to bad. But not as much grip as the TK 80s.

Cheers

Julio

Agree with Julio, TKC80's with heavy duty inner tubes will get you through most stuff in Maroc, found them excellent on/off road, and surprisingly able in the wet.

Hi

Do you know if TUBELESS Michelin Deserts are available (130/80-17 or 150/70-17)?

And are Continental TKC80 still available, can't find them in Sweden and I have even sent e-mail to head office in Germany without any reply.

Hi

There is no problem with getting TKC 80s in the UK.

Heres one site for info.

In Sweden I think the cheapest place to buy Tkc 80 is at www.vurpan.com

Does anybody know if tubeless TKC80's are easy to get in Southern Spain or Morocco?

Continental are not usual here in Spain, but I think you should be able to find any dealer in Granada, Sevilla or Malaga.

Yes. The only knobblies I could get in Punta Arenas were Karoos, marked "Tube Type". The guy who got them from Santiago for me (ex Chilean motocross champion) swore that his mate had done Ruta 40 using them tubeless on his R1100GS with no probs.

They've been on my GS11 for about 500 miles so far, maybe more, much of it on dirt and the rear has been fine. The front wouldn't hold air so I had to tube it, but I'm pretty certain my rim has a slight buckle as the AV33 I had on it previously wouldn't seat properly either.
