Build your own heated jacket

Bought the heating kit from here (includes all needed stuff):

Made the heated vest - highly satisfied and recommend it - lot of money saving!

Cheers, Margus

Good. I have been wondering about this idea.

It seems that geting a snug fit is important with heated vests, so the opportunity to add the wiring to a vest of choice might work really well.

How about a little more detail though people? How exactly did you do it? Open a lining and then sew it up again? Is there the right amount of wire? Is there a way of adjustuing the heat - is it necessary?

Pictures would be nice too.

Ta,

Simon

http://www.klr650.marknet.us/ At this site pick DIY in the left margin. Ideas range from making your own electric vest to another PVC storage tube.

The site above has my article on making your own electric vest. I have made 2 and like using a USA Army coat liner best because it is easy to work with. Best design I came across was a Georgia design. Hot glue phone wire (35 ft) to a T shirt and cut it down the front. My design is more sophisticated and can be made with computer wire or nichrome wire.
