Do you wear you pants inside or out.....
of your boots??? Weird question I know, but I knew that I had big calves but I never thought I would have the problem that I now have.
I've got a pair of the BMW summer pants with the zip-off lower leg. And today I picked up a pair of Sidi crossfire boots that don't fit inside the pants. All the cross pants are worn inside the boots I know, but they are much thinner material. Wearing that cordura inside the boots is going to suck I reckon. Anybody else with this problem that might have found a innovative solution. I'm thinking I might have to cut the pants on the inside seem and sew some extra material in it. I'll probably end up with some retro looking pair of pants. |

What do BMW have to say about this ? |
I thought this thread was going to be the old chestnut about how do you make your underwear last 4 days!
They're trousers I tell ya, long things with pockets in 'em. |

Come on guys. I'm seriously upset. I was so looking forward to those boots. I suppose it is a bit funny though.
I can't get my draggin jeans over them either. So am I meant wear shorts and knee braces? |

Is this the idea?

Inside!
I wore my BMW Rally pants outside - kept catching the inside seam on the footpegs and ripping them out. Before that, I also crashed and shredded the fabric covering the front of the boot - probably on the same footpeg - or was it the rock I landed on?
So inside if you don't want to deal with ripped seams. |

Yes -- gussets on both seams, even better!! Quastdog found the way to do it though - no charge for the modifications. Seriously though, surely you are going to wear the boots and pants in whichever way they fit best - comfort & protection taken into account, but a compromise in the end? |
BMW must have a technical bulletin somewhere , I suggest you cease riding immediately , get a taxi to your nearest BMW trouser fitting specialist .Have one of their technicians diagnose your specific trouser malfunction and write a report , a trouser specialist will then send you a technical breakdown of the trouser =boot interface and suggest a remedy , an invoice will be enclosed .
However, I fear that, the report will indicate a severe breakdown of BMW loyalty which must be remedied by purchase of BMW boots specifically engineered by BMW designers and made by 3rd world automatons . Once re-equiped you will now be ,once again, welcome in BMW social circles and your boots won't leave the wrong type of footprint on BMW showroom carpets . |
personally i tuck my trousers/jeans in my boots and have my over trousers/bike trousers on the out side so i water doesnt drip down into my boots. When just wearing jeans (proper bike ones) i leave them out, but do tuck them in if its starts to rain a bit so they are away from the dirt a bit more.

Off Road Bike
Summer Motocross jeans inside boots Winter / Wales Enduro (Sinisalo) Trousers over my boots Road Bike "Power Ranger" Lethers inside boots Cordura over my boots. I would ditch the trousers and get some that fit. Return them as "not fit for purpose" |

Anyway, long story short. I'm going to take the gusset approach (no as far as those awesome flares though) and try putting some elastic in between the seem. At least I can now compare the the size to the jeans. I can post the result if anyone is interested. I can't believe no one else has had to deal with this. Then again, I read a lot about more road orientated boots boots like the discovery and altberg than more cross/ enduro boots. Definately keeping the boots though. The are soooo comfortable and I'm still nursing an ankle injury after nearly 8 months. |
