Goggles for spectacle wearers?
Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if any of our group has had any experience in using road style goggles (not off road, motorcross type), in conjunction with wearing spectacles and open face (jet type) helmets? I'm sick of my Nolan N42 steaming up at the least threat of cold temps but hate wearing full face helmets (like my Shoei Raid 11). Recently I was watching an episode of "The Worlds Greatest Motorcycle Rides", on the Travel Channel and noticed that the presenter (Henry Coles) appeared to be wearing sunglasses under a pair of goggles, so I wonder if any of our crew have tried the same and, if so which brands were the chosen ones? I've e-mailed Davida and I'm awaiting their reply but would appreciate any comments here. Regards Reggie |
The stylistically challenged bloke in this picture is wearing something similar:

You may find adding the sponge pad from a pair of MX goggles to the road type spaces them off your face and makes room for the specs. I'd get my eyes lasered if I wasn't a tight ****ed chicken who'd rather spend my cash on beer and petrol (not at the same time). Andy |
I've got a pair of these and they work well and are cheap.

Over the years I've tried a lot of different ones (names and specs (that's specifications as well as spectacles) long since vanished from my memory) with glasses and with contact lenses and none of them have really worked. There's always something wrong. Something usually presses somewhere and niggles away when I'm wearing glasses underneath and I've had contact lenses fall out into the goggles (the old hard type of lens). I'm not a great fan of lenses on a trip as something usually goes wrong with them - eyes watering from the wind or an allergy making your eyes itch or dust or something. The ski type goggles don't make you look much like a dust coated road warrior but that suits me fine. |

Bnicho nailed it....Bobster offers some cool motorcycle glasses/goggles that you can snap prescription lenses into. I have 2 or 3 pair and the RX fits right into any of them.
On top of that, the goggles usually come with 3 sets of colored lenses. And they're guaranteed. And, they're based in San Diego where I live so I have swapped out a broken earpiece in person. Highly recommended. |

I've also been looking. And as far as I can figure out any OTG googles should work. Like Scott OTG (Amazon.com: scott otg).

I picked up a goggle insert for skier's that works great. they snap into just about any goggle (I use the same one when skiing and for riding). You can purchase the insert online and have any local lab make the lens with your prescription. I've been using them for years and it's great. No pressure points over your head like when your where glasses behind goggles.
