Good place to buy in Sydney or California??
Dear guys;
I'm planning to buy the 2005 F650GS in Sydney and start the 2 years RTW in California. At this moment,I don't have anything. I need to buy all the equipments like gas tank,sidebag,helmet,clothes,speaker,amp,camping gear,gps,chain rock..etc etc. Is there good place to buy in Sydney? or California? (No touratech..^^) I'd like to see and buy myself at the shop and like to ask them to install those item for me. Thanks. SH,Kang |
The bike will come with a gas tank.
If your are buying new then you are looking at official bmw dealers - look on the bmw web sites for the dealer list. In Sydney you have two PROCYCLES, HORNSBY (NSW) 148 GEORGE STREET HORNSBY NSW 2077 Phone: +61 2 9477 5422 Facsimile: +61 2 9476 3534 TOM BYRNE MOTORCYCLES, ST PETERS (NSW) 140 PRINCES HIGHWAY ST PETERS NSW 2044 Phone: +61 2 9557 1610 Facsimile: +61 2 9557 7198 It is not a good idea to get them to do installations of extra gear. You need to know how things were done - so you can do repairs in the field. It will also be cheaper if you do it your self - and you get to learn about the bike before you get to remoter places. |
Thanks Frank.
I already know the BMW dealer in Sydney..^^ I'll buy the bike with many options,however as it's very expensive gears,I'd like to buy those more cheap things at the bike shop. I think you are absolutely right about installing myself,but I'm not good at it and noone to help me.T.T That's why I'd like to ask them to install. Fortunately,wonderful Simmo in Melbourn would give me a hand with things..^^ I'm so thanksfuland expecting to see him with his riders. Your guys are so nice..!! |
A&S BMW in Sacramento has a good reputation. What are your travel plans? Some stuff is cheaper in Australia than in California.
I'm doing fine with no GPS. What's the speaker and amp for? --Dave ------------------ Trying to ride (and work) my way round the world on a 1965 Ducati 250cc. In New Zealand now. Japan in April. http://nokilli.com/rtw/ |
Moto, I find almost everything to be cheaper in the USA than in Australia. That would include the bike for definite. BMW's are not cheap here.
I travel to the US and Canada twice a year and often buy bike gear there... If you can, then wait to buy whatever you need in the US. |
Thanks EdwardH;
Yeah,I also think I can save money if I buy the bike in U.S. The problem is carnet,as I cannot handle the expensive deposit of CAA for Iran(40,000USD for my 10,000 value of bike) and other countries. So I think it's better to buy the camping gear and other items in California as you said. Guys.. Please,let me know the nice shop in San Francisco. Thanks again^^ .
