GPS Handlebar Mounting Bracket
Has anyone any experience with the original Garmin handlebar mounting bracket for the 60 series GPS?
How tough are they?…..Will they survive the stress of being mounted on a 650 single running on the sands of north Africa or are they flimsy to the point of flipping off at speed on a motorway? Do not want to spend over £80 for a TT bracket….but might have to if I risk losing my 60csx. :( Cheers |
Personally I'd have a look at (and then buy) a RAM cradle and arm for mounting your GPS - I'm sure they do a cradle for the 60 series...
With my Garmin 2610 I initally used the OE bracket, but that didn't last well over prolonged rough terrain, so I bought a Touratech cradle but found that was useless over 50mph, and as you say, very expensive... I already had the RAM system on my other bike for my old GPS45 and GPSII units, and that has performed faultlessly - so I bought a Ram cradle for the 2610 and likewise have now done over 30,000 miles with no problems at all... Best of all, the whole arm/cradle assemble should only cost around $35 or so... xxx |

I'm using the Garmin mount and find it's flimsy, the GPS vibrates a lot and the coupling is already worn. It's only meant for a bicycle. I was very happy with the TT mount for my GPS V.
