Gregory Fraziers Alaska by Motorcycle
I've been planning a couple trips for next year and one aspect has been to read about the various places I want to visit. I purchased Fraziers Alaska by Motorcycle and unfortunately found it to be pretty much a waste of money. There are better free trip reports online and the writing is much better. The Guide seems rather out of date, bordering in corny at times. Having never met Frazier in person, It seems he is a horrible naysayer, and very sarcastic. I was hoping to get the Journey south and GSing around the world, but may not after reading this one.
Anyone want to redeem the other two books, and defend th AK book? |
Alaska Milepost and Travlers Stories.

I completely agree "The Milepost" is a great publication with very little missing along the entire Alaska Highway. The publisher makes a yearly amendment trip and updates all the accomodations, restaurants, truck stops, distance markers, even business opening/closing times.
I've purchased the book for the last 12 years in a row and would never head to Alaska without it. JB |
I plan on getting the milepost, It does sound good. Frazir's book is what Im talking about

I've not read the other books, but can seriously say that GS'ing around the World is a real waste of money. All it contains is a large number of poor quality black and white photos of various GS's and some limited text to support them.

basically what the AK book is, I have a feeling that Frazier just makes these books to fund his travels and can get them published because of his notoriety.

Wouldn't bother with Milepost, it's out of date before you get it. Better go and see the visitor centre of the town you're in for information of what's ahead.
