NEW Honda Transalp 2008
I know it might be a bit too early to start this thread since the New Honda Transalp 2008 is not out yet. But we all have seen it on internet and speaking for myself i fell in love with this bike. I presently own an MZ 660cc single cylinder, and i am planning an overland trip in Europe first then later i d like to try north africa. I want a realiable twin cylinder adventure tourer that is capable of going two up long distances and i thought the new transalp would be a great candidate for this... any views on this bike or any other adventure tourer would be greatly appreciated...Cheers and happy riding to all....

Nah, it's horrible ............
........... The reasons are given here:-
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...p-2008-a-34907 If you go into the Honda tech forum (via the link or post your own) you will probably get more response. For a two up twin, take a look at the Kawa Versys? Much better value IMO. Or, the new "small" BMWs, Or ........... come on someone else suggest a twin - oh yes, the DL650. |
You think so ?

You think so? thanks for the reoly first of all....
I dont like the versys, i am looking for an adventure tourer, somethin of an on and off the road type of bike and the versys is not.. and the suzuki DL 650 seemed a good option until i came across this site: Suzuki V-Strom DL 650 Review The BMW s are great bikes but a bit too expensive i think for me.. A honda is always a honda i guess.... Cheers.. |
New bikes, got to love them!

The new Honda is bigger, heavier etc for no obvious gain. I do understand what you say about the Versys: may be it will reappear as a bike that is more like the KLE500 twin - that can still be bought here in the UK I believe - it was certainly available new in 2007. For the DL650, take a look at pecha72 posts about his recent ride 1/2 way RTW: not a bad word about them! The BMW F650GS twin is about £5500 = about the price of the new Honda. |

That link of mine was rubbish BTW: this is the one I meant to add:-
