Yes, but it looks cumbersome to disengage. Could be even dangerous in situation when you need to disengage it quickly.

I used an equally simple cruise control - a straightened coathanger wrapped around the throttle with a straight bit resting on the front brake lever and holding the throttle open.
The tension in the wire grips the throttle when it's in the 'on' position, however you can turn the throttle 'off' without disengaging the wire from the lever. Alternatively there's this little gadget - cheap and effective.
