I have had a micro-light thera-rest for going on 15 years now.. SAME one.. I have never had a hole or any other problems.. I do not take care of it when i travel and this thing has been all over the world with me (granted mostly in a back pack, and only a few places in a pannier.. I do firm it up by blowing extra air in it. and it is starting to now degrade a wee bit... the most important thing (like sleeping bag) is not to store it rolled up. Store it flat witht eh valve open..
My wife has an other brand (cant remember the name) and I have had to patch it 2x.. :confused1: |
Hi,
I've had my ultra lite 3/4 for 8 years now. There is a puncture repair on it that is now six years old and still fine. I'd rate Thermarest durability as excellent as I don't treat mine with kid gloves. Plus the Thermarest chair (an adapter to turn you sleeping mat into a chair) is one of the greatest comfort inventions for camping of all time! I have been blowing into mine for years and it doesn't seem to have had any problems with moisture build up, although I too was concerned about this originally. Buy one, you won't regret it! Matt |
let it down when its a hot day.
Used my ultralite for years now , destroyed the one I had before by leaving it inflated in the tent on a hot day. It delaminates as the internal pressure builds up.
It does tell you to open the valve on hot days when not in use on the instructions .......................... |
used theremarests for years - never had a puncture - but i do check where im pitching the tent/thermarest
best ones (for me) are the old Guidelite (now Prolite 4) - light enough on a bike or to hike - though still 4 season - even at -15 here in Canada ! and they keep my hip of the deck when im lying on my side. you only need to worry about moisture vapour from your breath at higher altitudes - where it will condense in the pad - and freeze if cold enough - wrecking it. cheers Grif |
